On the 12th of August 2024, St. Peter’s Engineering College observed National Librarian Day by organizing an Awareness Program on the “Utilization of E-Resources” in collaboration with J-Gate – Informatics. The event, held at Rojamma Hall, began at 03:30 PM and was attended by faculty members, students, and library staff.
The program commenced with a warm welcome from the college’s Librarian, Dr. N. Ravisankar Reddy, who highlighted the significance of National Librarian Day and the vital role librarians play in academic institutions. He emphasized the importance of e-resources in today’s digital age and the need for students and faculty to utilize these resources effectively.
Following the introduction, the Principal, Dr. K. Sree Latha, addressed the gathering. She underscored the evolving nature of libraries and the shift from traditional print resources to digital platforms. Dr. Latha encouraged students and faculty members to make the most of the college’s e-resources to enhance their academic and research endeavors.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ratish Iyer, Training Manager at J-Gate, Informatics. Mr. Iyer conducted an engaging session on the utilization of e-resources, focusing on how J-Gate, an electronic gateway to global e-journal literature, can be leveraged by the academic community. He provided a comprehensive overview of the J-Gate platform, demonstrating its features, search capabilities, and how it facilitates access to a vast repository of academic journals and articles. Mr. Iyer also discussed best practices for navigating and utilizing e-resources effectively for research and academic purposes.
The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging with Mr. Iyer through questions and discussions. The audience gained valuable insights into maximizing the benefits of e-resources, which are essential for staying updated with the latest developments in various fields of study.
In his closing remarks, the Secretary of the college, Mr. T.V. Reddy, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Ratish Iyer for sharing his expertise and to the Department of Central Library for organizing the event. He reiterated the college’s commitment to providing access to quality e-resources and supporting the academic growth of its students and faculty.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. N. Ravisankar Reddy, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team, the support of the college management, and the participation of the attendees.
